Lunch Seminar: The U.S. is Manufacturing Again!

On Wednesday the 31st of October, guests gathered at Baker and McKenzie Advokatbyrå in Stockholm for a lunch seminar with the topic, “The U.S. is Manufacturing Again!” The first part of the seminar was held by Martin Daniels, project manager at Boston Consulting Group Stockholm. Daniels discussed how American companies have begun to rethink offshoring and outsourcing parts of their companies. The rising labor costs in places like China have caused many companies to stay in America. When costs of transport, tariffs, customs and delivery of the goods are paid, being based in China can be more expensive than keeping the production in the United States. The U.S has now become a “cheap” alternative for supplying the developed world. Gregg Wingfield, president and CEO of Greater Richmond Partnership held an interesting 10 step presentation about what companies ought to think about when trying to expand into the American market. An important part of Wingfield’s ten steps of success was researching the market, and researching it thoroughly.
